Alex Engel — Writer, Director & Cinematographer
Since graduating from film school in 2021, Alex hasn’t stopped creating. From TELUS STORYHIVE documentaries to ambitious feature films, he’s been behind the camera, bringing bold ideas to life. With a growing portfolio of original scripts and a deep understanding of every stage of production, Alex is fast becoming one of Canada’s most exciting emerging filmmakers. Join him as he shares firsthand insights—and reveals why the film schools of today may soon be relics of the past.
Garnet Campbell — Producer
With 17 producer credits and 5 films as director, Garnet has built a global reputation for crafting emotionally charged stories with visual power.
His most recent feature, The Last Reckoning, has been winning awards around the world — recognized for its sharp writing, immersive cinematography, and outstanding performances.
With over 15 years of innovation in filmmaking education, Garnet has mentored emerging filmmakers through every stage of the creative process — from concept to completion. His passion for real-world learning ensures that every participant in the Evolve X program gains more than just experience — they gain deep creative mentorship, professional discipline, and lasting industry insight.
Jermaine (J.R.) Lopez — Executive Producer & Partner, Evolve X Studios
J.R. is a graphic communication, product design, and film-tech veteran with over two decades of experience in film and television.
His early career included work on a series of blockbuster productions before expanding into product design, venture capital, and innovation strategy.
